Cyclist Protesters Stop Traffic in New York
The New York Times reports an NYPD estimate that over 100 protesters were arrested tonight out of about 5000 protesters on bikes. I saw the cyclers come by in droves as I went to dinner. They were pretty smart about how to obstruct traffic at the intersection we passed by. Traffic was backed up and drivers were honking, with the cops no where in sight. Pretty poor response time for the NYPD. Coming back from dinner, there was a helicopter circling high above, and trucks full of captured bikes. We saw police vehicles and cops everywhere. I hope to have the pictures I took developed soon. And to think this is only the protests leading up to the convention.
