Wednesday, February 18, 2004 Drudge crap on Kerry put to rest Ryan Lizza of TNR writes:
HE DID SPELL JOHN KERRY CORRECTLY: Just in case anybody was still wondering whether anything in the original Drudge item about John Kerry was accurate, I can confirm that Wesley Clark did not say what Drudge says he said at that off-the-record conversation with reporters in Nashville one week ago.
I was there when Clark spoke, and just to make sure I didn't miss anything, I've also checked with other reporters who were there. Since it was off the record (sort of), I can't get into what Clark actually said (let's just say it was not his finest moment on the campaign trail), but I can report that the quote Drudge attributes to him--"Kerry will implode over an intern issue"--is not accurate. He never said that.

Goodbye, Howie Dean...
That was one hell of a ride wasn't it? I feel like we just went through the Green Key of politics, with Senior Week right around the corner.... As a history major I've been mulling over how the history books will remember this campaign- he probably deserves more attention than any primary loser in recent memory, if ever.

Women on Top...An Unusual Position?
This morning a friend sent me this article by those wacky-tobacky bleeding-heart liberals at The Wall Street Journal, which may explain the infamous “gender salary gap.” I had always just chalked the phenomenon up to chauvinism and bias, but I found this passage particularly interesting:
Even Ms. Dial, now an adviser to companies, admits that as a senior executive she took advantage of her female subordinates' willingness to be grinds. “Good girls don't advertise, only prostitutes advertise,” she says. "We feel dirty promoting ourselves." As a result, women are still getting stuck in the middle, shut out of “the club at the top.”
Self-promotion feels like prostitution? I think the article blames girls more than it should -- this seems more like an institutional problem. It also sounds slappingly similar to the loose girls=sluts / loose guys=players double-standard I’ve heard gals complain about. Thoughts? Reactions? (Especially from any ladies reading).

Curb your war Graham and I are sitting in a class on 20th century American politics. SOmetimes, this class is very long. Today, this class is very long. ANd Graham mumbles comments all class long, occasionally getting asked by the prof 'what are you saying?" At those times, Graham usually lies. Graham is also laughing all class
We are talking about Vietnam and American politics...Graham is a weird dude, people. Seriously, he mumbles a comment under his breath every 30 seconds.
Anyway, this is a funny op-ed. Graham and I agree this is a good one. It demonstrates why we ought to support W.'s war. By Larry David.
