Saturday, January 31, 2004 Pentagon Advisor Richard Perle Fundraises For Terrorists Perle claims that he thought the event was to raise money for the Red Cross and specifically for relief efforts in Iran. Although Perle is still playing dumb, both the FBI and the Treasury Department smelled a rat. Congressman Bob Ney is calling for an investigation from AG Ashcroft. Long before the event, the Red Cross had made it clear that it was going to refuse any money raised at the event because of the strong ties between the event planners and a known terrorist organization. So neo-con Perle is raising money for terrorists? I thought folks were either with us or against us. If everything is so simple, will Perle be fired? Will he still hold the administration's collective ear?
Did I miss something here?

Friday, January 30, 2004 Bush v. American Workers It's been on the Republican agenda for a while to get rid of overtime pay. Now the Bush administration is using a new tactic to chip away at this important benefit (or right, if you take the government at its word when it makes a deal with the citizens it represents).
Military experience can now be used to force workers off of the overtime payrolls. Here's the deal.

"Mel Gibson: Holocaust Denier?" That's the title of David Berstein post at Volokh. Gibson was asked whether the Holocaust happened, and used language that Berstein thinks demands further explanation. Holocaust 'revisionists' use language that is the same or similar to Gibson's answer (speaking of Jews that died rather than a systematic attempt at extermination).

Wednesday, January 28, 2004 Mel Gibson: Anti-Semite?
Grossman has this link up over on Dartlog, which is a somewhat odd remix of the Passion preview. I guess it's meant to be funny, but it's mostly just disturbing to me. Here's the original if you want to compare.
I can't decide whether to go to this movie and decide for myself about it's racist undertones . This is one movie I definitely wouldn't feel guilty about downloading from Kazaa.

The Continuing Saga of Lyndon Larouche
It looks like Al Franken has been having some troubles with Larouche supporters too.
I don't condone the violence, and I'm sure dartloggers will be wailing about Franken suppressing (and suplexing) free speech, but it's still pretty darned funny hearing four-eyed humorist Franken brag about his wrestling skills.

Monday, January 26, 2004 DFP 4.8 on the Warpath
The primaries may be incoming fast, but the DFP was heavily armed and at the ready long ago. Check out the latest hulking issue as writers take on a full frontal assault from Mad Dr Dean, Smokey Joe, Grimreaper Kerry, Wes Clark, a Surprise Edwards, DJ Koose, and that damn persistent Clark again.
And all the while, veteran Janos smokes up on his porch behind the lines, reminiscing on what a crazy battle it’s been. Also watch the fray really fight as Anthony Bramante defends against an ambush on Edsforth, Saruman the White attacks the flanks, and Sheila Hicks prowls the underground channels with a game of Name that Moisture.
