The Wall

Wow. Mark Foley. What a shitshow. After all, if having sex with a 22-year-old consenting intern is an impeachable offense, then asking a 16-year-old page to measure his penis is a political apocalypse.

But not all Republicans are ashamed of the scandal. The Wall Street Journal has figured out that this is actually a victory for conservatives. You see, this scandal proves that Republicans have been right all along: all gays *are* child-raping predators! Consider this line on today's WSJ editorial page:

Republican leaders "failed to protect the children in their trust," intoned Parson Pelosi, last seen on this issue voting to revoke the Boy Scouts' charter for its ban on gay scoutmasters.

And if I hadn't thrown out Monday's WSJ in disgust, I would've been able to quote back another great line. In that one, the WSJ argued that if Republicans had tried to kick out Foley earlier for making sexual comments to minors, Democrats would have defended Foley's sexual orientation.

So here's a question: is the Wall Street Jorunal editorial board staffed by bigots or just assholes? Discuss amongst yourselves.

PS--great job on the blog redesign.

Thanks for drawing a distinction between the Wall Street Journal and the WSJ editorial staff.

Aren't bigots usually assholes by definition?
