6/22/2006 11:30:00 PM | Timothy Reunion and the Greek System I was up in Hanover last weekend for my 5th year reunion. I got to see a lot of old friends, and talk to some people I haven't spoken to in ages. When I came back, my girlfriend wanted me to tell her stories about it. Summary: We drank. At the girlfriend's reunion at her seven sister college, there were apparently intellectual activities. Our only official speaker was President Jim Wright, who had the gall to tell us that thanks to our leadership, the college had accomplished "his" goal of making the Greek system stronger! What ever happened to making the Greek system substantially coeducational? Sigh. Most of the class, I suspect, shared my sentiment that Wright was trying to pretend he hadn't shifted gears. We agree that Wright seemed to have a turnaround. I just think that it is Wright's turnaround, rather than the announced intentions of the SLI, that is to be lamented. Whenever Dartmouth calls me asking for money, I say they will not get any money until they IMPLEMENT the SLI. Of course, I don't take that stance to the extreme, by refusing to pay money to Dartmouth for the reunion. (What's up Hogie!) perma link |
