6/15/2006 10:13:00 PM | Jared Alessandroni According to Media Matters, Joe Scarborough misrepresented a recent poll on whether we can win in Iraq. It's an object lesson in semantics - from the people who didn't like wondering what your definition of is is. The options were: a: You think the U.S. will definitely win the war in Iraq. b: You think the U.S. will probably win the war in Iraq. c: You think the U.S. can win the war in Iraq, but you don't think it will win. d: You do not think the U.S. can win the war in Iraq? And Joey combines a, b, AND c., saying "over two in three Americans think this war is winnable." It would be like if someone said, do you Britney Spears will be a Supreme Court Judge. No. Do you think it's possible, but don't think it will? Sure, after Harriet, it's possible, but no, no! But hearing a 24 Hour News hack distort the truth to the point of lunacy is not newsworthy. What is, I think, is the picture below: I'm not thinking about the Bush bounce, and neither should you. We are about 10 square inches of cheap Rayon away from naked weathergirl, and this is how the average citizen, the average voter gets their news. What the Hell is wrong with us, and what do we doing about it? perma link |
